Each PROFOX is equipped with a centrally located LED: The FOX-EYE. It provides clearly visible information about both actuator and valve status. The FOX-EYE display scheme can be configured by the user as required.

High pressure impacts in pipelines demand multi-turn actuators supplying high torques. When combining multi-turn actuators with GHT multi-turn gearboxes, the torque range can be extended to 120,000 Nm.
In spite of the high degrees of automation, there are still valves requiring manual operation. This is in particular the case if the respective valves are only rarely operated for opening or closing.
The GHE type range with the housing made of bronze is suitable for operating part-turn valves (butterfly valves and ball valves), as predominantly deployed in shipbuilding.
HART makes use of the known 4 – 20 mA standard signal for analogue data transmission. HART communication is modulated as additional signal to the analogue signal. Advantages: The digital HART signal can be transmitted simultaneously to the digital signal. The existing 4 – 20 mA infrastructure is thus also available for digital communication. Consequently, this allows for reading additional parameters and diagnostic data from field devices.
HART is based on the host-field device principle. The optional multidrop HART topology essentially complies with the line structures of fieldbus systems. In most cases, the conventional 4 – 20 mA point-to-point communication is used.
SIMA² Master Station is AUMA’s performing platform for the control and supervision of actuators via standardised fieldbus systems. The system optimises communication between host and field level and caters for efficient processes within the installation.
Configuration, operation and asset management of actuators and other field devices are simplified. A large variety of redundancy options maximises plant availability. Comprehensive diagnostic functions ensure perfect installation overview.

The use of a frequency converter specially conceived for the actuator deployment offers many advantages. Besides the variable speed, the insensitivity to voltage and frequency variations, the lack of current increase during motor start-up as well as the valve protection by soft approaching of the end positions should be mentioned.
The rugged design makes these actuators extremely resistant to environmental impacts (standard corrosivity category C5, IP67, double sealed - enclosure protection is also ensured during commissioning) and can be further enhanced as an option.
The SEVEN actuator is available in three electronic variants: ECOTRON, PROFITRON and HiMod.
Today, classic Ethernet is the leading standard for cable-based data networks in office environments. “Industrial Ethernet” describes the enhancements allowing the use of Ethernet even for sophisticated applications in industrial automation.
Combinations with part-turn gearboxes with base and lever
Part-turn gearboxes
Part-turn actuators with base and lever offer consequently an ideal solution if valves like butterfly valves can only be operated using a lever arrangement, due to space constraints.
In case of higher torque requirement, SA multi-turn actuators are combined with a part-turn gearbox with base and lever. The gearboxes are based on GS part-turn gearboxes which are converted by the combination with base and lever. Since this can be fitted retrospectively, benefits in warehousing are obvious.
If the drive shaft is to be positioned at a certain angle to the output drive shaft, combinations of the SA multi-turn actuators with GST spur gearboxes are used. The output torque can be considerably multiplied.
Profinet is a communication protocol for industrial automation technology based on Ethernet. Profinet uses the basic functional model of Profibus which allows smooth change-over to the new technology for Profibus users. Profinet combines the advantages of a known fieldbus system and Industrial Ethernet.
AUMA actuators with Profinet support the entire functional scope of AC .2 actuator controls, allowing easy and flexible integration into virtually any type of network.
EtherNet/IP is a communication protocol for industrial automation technology based on Ethernet. EtherNet/IP uses the CIP (Common Industrial Protocol) known from DeviceNet.
AUMA actuators with AC .2 actuator controls support EtherNet/IP, allowing easy and flexible integration into virtually any type of network.
Modbus TCP is a communication protocol for industrial automation technology based on Ethernet. Modbus TCP corresponds to the direct implementation of the established Modbus protocol (RTU) to a TCP/IP based communication. Existing Modbus applications can thereby easily use a connection-based, secure exchange of process data via an existing Ethernet network.
Contrary to other protocols, Modbus can handle delayed messages which occur often e.g. for modem connections or wireless networks.
This way, Modbus enables reliable control, device monitoring and data recording, even from a distance.
AUMA actuators with AC .2 actuator controls support Modbus TCP, allowing easy and flexible integration into virtually any type of network.
The wall bracket (WH) and the cable set for wall bracket (LSW) allow mounting the actuator controls separately from the actuator.
Retrofitting is always possible and is particularly appropriate if actuators are difficult to access, subject to strong vibration or high ambient temperatures at valve level, for example.
The retrofit kit replaces the handwheel by a square head power tool adapter. This allows emergency operation of the valve by using a power tool, considerably reducing the force and time requirements in critical situations.
A combination of adapter for power tool emergency operation and stem extension is available for pit applications.
Explosion-proof remote control for comfortable local operation of AUMA actuators. Thanks to the large colour display, the valve end position setting, actuator parameter configuration and reading-out diagnostic data are easy and intuitive. The Bluetooth range of up to 20 metres allows for easier operation of actuators installed at locations which are difficult to access.
The SAI/SARI type range is designed for the automation of valves in nuclear power plants. SAI/SARI actuators are used inside containment and are qualified in compliance with IEEE 382-2006. The DBE resistant SAI/SARI actuators can take over safety functions under DBE conditions. Multi-turn actuators of SAI type range can be used for open-close duty and positioning duty. SARI actuators are designed for modulating duty.
The SAN/SARN type range is designed for the automation of valves in nuclear power plants. SAN/SARN actuators are used outside containment and are qualified in compliance with IEEE 382-2006. The DBE resistant SAN/SARN actuators can take over safety functions under DBE conditions. Multi-turn actuators of SAN type range can be used for open-close duty and positioning duty. SARN actuators are designed for modulating duty.

AC actuator controls are your perfect solution if the application requires self-adapting control functions, data logging, a configurable interface or if valve and actuator are to be integrated into a Plant Asset Management System due to advanced diagnostic functions.
AC actuator controls are equipped with a parallel interface for free configuration and/or interfaces to fieldbus systems as used within process automation.
The diagnostic functions comprise a time-stamped event report, torque characteristics logging, continuous recording of temperatures and vibration within the actuator and, furthermore, counting the number of starts and motor running times.
Further to the basic functions, AC actuator controls offer a number of options to meet special demands. These include torque bypass to unseat valves if tightly seated or functions for extending operating times to avoid water hammer within pipelines.
With the development of the AC 01.2, particular emphasis was laid on user-friendliness and the ease of integration of actuators into the DCS. The large graphic display is used to perform menu-controlled programming of the actuator controls, optionally using AUMA CDT via wireless Bluetooth connection. For fieldbus connections, AC programming can be performed from the control room.
With the FQM fail safe unit, AUMA offers innovative and safe actuator solutions for automatic operation of valves in case of emergencies making use of stored mechanical energy.

AM actuator controls with their straightforward design are the perfect choice when using parallel signal transmission while a relatively low number of feedback signals is required. Few parameters need to be defined via sliding switches during commissioning, e.g. type of seating in end positions. Control is made via operation commands OPEN, STOP, CLOSE. Reaching an end position and collective fault signals are reported back to the DCS as feedback signals. These signals are visually displayed at the local controls via the indication lights. As an option, the valve position can be transmitted as 0/4 – 20 mA signal to the DCS.

Virtually unlimited stroke
Rising stems are led through the hollow shaft of the multi-turn actuator which drives the stem in combination with the output drive type A. The stem protection tube protects the stem from pollution and people from injuries.

AUMA linear thrust units convert TIGRON’s multi-turn movement into a thrust movement which is required for globe valve automation.
With SAVEx .2 multi-turn actuators for open-close duty paired with intelligent ACVExC 01.2 actuator controls, the proven AUMA SAEx/SAREx range is enhanced by variable speed models.
SAVEx multi-turn actuators are rated for open-close duty and positioning duty (classes A and B) / (short-time duty S2 - 15 min). Special sizing for longer running times is available for the S2 - 30 min duty.
With SARVEx .2 multi-turn actuators for modulating duty paired with intelligent ACVExC 01.2 actuator controls, the proven SAEx/SAREx range is enhanced by variable speed models.
SARVEx multi-turn actuators are rated for modulating duty (class C) S4 - 25 %. Special versions for S4 - 50 % are also available.
When combining SA multi-turn actuators with GS part-turn gearboxes, the combination acts as electric part-turn actuator fulfilling higher torque requirements.
Thus, these combinations represent a complement to the SQ part-turn actuators with their 2,400 Nm torque range limit.
AUMA offers sophisticated control for premium safety requirements with AC 01.2-SIL or ACExC 01.2-SIL actuators controls. SA .2 and SQ .2 actuators combined with these actuator controls can be deployed in safety-related system systems up to SIL 3. AC 01.2 actuator controls in SIL version are equipped with an additional SIL module designed for the execution of safety functions. In case of an emergency at the plant and when requesting a safety function, the standard logic of AC is bypassed and the safety function is performed via the safe SIL module. Consequently, the safety function always overrules standard operation. SA .2 and SQ .2 actuators equipped with these actuator controls have been certified by TÜV Nord. They are suitable for the following safety functions:
Safe OPENING/CLOSING (ESD) up to SIL 2 (single-channel system) or SIL 3 (redundant system) according to IEC 61508 Ed. 2
Safe STOP up to SIL 2 (single-channel system) according to IEC 61508 Ed. 2
Safe end position feedback signal up to SIL 2 according to IEC 61508 Ed. 2 or up to PL c according to ISO 13849 (not integral part of the certificate. A separate declaration of incorporation is available.)

SA multi-turn actuators are rated for open-close duty and positioning duty (classes A and B) / (short-time duty S2 - 15 min). Special sizing for longer running times is available for the S2 - 30 min duty.
The actuators can be combined with different actuator controls: From simple OPEN-CLOSE actuator controls to the micro-controlled version with logging of operating data or fieldbus interface.
