In installations representing a considerable potential risk for humans and the environment, the demand is steadily increasing for the installation of safety systems which put and maintain such installations in a safe state at all times. These systems are designed in compliance with the international standards on functional safety such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849.
AUMA actuators are frequently used in safety critical applications and therefore contribute to safe operation of technical systems. AUMA offers a large portfolio of products tested according to the applicable standards and which are suitable for different safety requirements.
With the TIGRON in SIL version, AUMA presents a powerful, explosion-proof actuator for highest safety requirements up to SIL 3. It allows flexible configuration and even provides solutions for very complex demands in safety-related applications.
Up to four different safety functions can be configured within a single device. The priority of the safety functions can be freely defined.
Further parameters such as type of seating, tripping torque and overload protection of the safety function can also be set in compliance with the customer’s needs. Thanks to a timer function, the TIGRON SIL can additionally decelerate its operation shortly before reaching the end position and thus avoid pressure surges within the pipeline. The safety functions are controlled and monitored by a safety-related software.

The FQM fail safe unit in SIL version is an innovative and safe actuation solution for opening or closing valves in case of emergencies during power failures. The device is suitable for safety-related applications up to SIL 3. The torque required in an emergency is provided via the energy mechanically stored in a constant force spring. The innovative constant force spring motor offers considerable advantages compared to conventional solutions.

AUMA offers sophisticated controls for premium safety requirements up to SIL 3 with the AC 01.2 or ACExC 01.2 actuators controls in SIL version. They include an additional SIL module for executing the safety functions.

AUMA has performed a hardware assessment and determined safety figures on the basis of field experience and/or generic data for these products.
